The Duke Arts Exchange program partners with arts departments to create opportunities for advanced arts students at Duke to travel and study in a conservatory environment, and invites conservatory students to experience time at Duke.
The pilot version of this program began in the Fall 2022 semester and continued in Fall 2023 led by two Music Department faculty members, Hsiao-mei Ku, Professor of the Practice of Music and Caroline Stinson, Associate Professor of the Practice of Music and Director of Chamber Music. Ku and Stinson created a new class “Meeting the World through Chamber Music,” which gave advanced chamber music students the opportunity to travel over Fall Break to study at the New England Conservatory. In Spring 2024, students traveled from the Conservatory to rehearse and perform at Duke University. “Meeting the World through Chamber Music” is scheduled to return in Fall 2024.
The Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts is seeking opportunities to expand this program to students in other disciplines, and this page will be updated as the program continues to develop.
